General Directorate of Civil Defense in Gaza:

▪ We received, at around two-thirty this morning, distress signals from the administration of the shelter center adjacent to the damaged Al-Saada building, indicating sudden cracks and fissures in the building and that it was housing more than one hundred displaced people.

▪ Our specialized teams immediately headed to the scene and dealt with it with the support of the Egyptian Committee, the Red Cross, UNDP, and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), and the results were as follows:

▪ 35 people were evacuated from the building and the adjacent tents and transported to safe places away from danger, with confirmation of their health safety.

▪ When the building collapsed, our teams dealt with 45 injured people, and they were transported in cooperation with ambulance service providers to hospitals.

▪ When the building collapsed, our teams worked immediately in an attempt to rescue people alive, and after hard work that lasted for hours, they were able to recover the bodies of 21 people who were missing under the rubble. Thus, the mission was completed.
