▪ On the 30th anniversary of the Tunnel Intifada, we affirm that Al-Aqsa Mosque is a purely Islamic endowment, and that the occupation has no alleged legitimacy over any inch of the land and Palestinian holy sites. ▪ The movement recalled in a press statement today, Friday, the “Tunnel” intifada that erupted in 1996 in response to the occupation opening a tunnel beneath Al-Aqsa Mosque. It lasted six months and resulted in the martyrdom of about 100 Palestinians and the injury of more than 1,600 people. ▪ The commemoration comes amid the escalation of the aggression on the city of Jerusalem, Al-Aqsa Mosque and the West Bank, in parallel with the continued aggression on the Gaza Strip and the massacres it leaves behind against civilians.
