Prisoners’ Media Office:

▪The prisoners’ family mourns prisoner Mu’taz Nizam al-Atresh "Abu Sinina" from the city of Hebron, who died in the occupation prisons after about a year of administrative detention, in a new crime added to the record of ongoing violations against Palestinian prisoners.

▪The martyrdom of prisoner al-Atresh once again reflects the severity of the conditions faced by prisoners inside the occupation prisons, with systematic policies that include repression, abuse, starvation, deprivation and medical neglect, directly threatening their lives and safety.

▪With the martyrdom of al-Atresh, the number of documented martyrs of the prisoners’ movement since 1967 rises to 329 martyrs, including 92 martyrs since 7 October 2023, while the occupation continues to hold the bodies of dozens of martyrs and withhold information about the circumstances of the martyrdom of others, especially among detainees from the Gaza Strip.

▪We hold the occupation fully responsible for the martyrdom of prisoner al-Atresh and for the life and fate of thousands of Palestinian prisoners held in its prisons, and we call on international and human rights institutions to assume their responsibilities and move urgently to protect prisoners and stop the crimes and violations committed against them.

▪We demand the immediate disclosure of the circumstances of prisoner al-Atresh’s detention and the details of his martyrdom, and the opening of an independent international investigation into the crime and holding those responsible accountable. We affirm that his martyrdom after about a year of administrative detention once again reveals the danger of this arbitrary policy.
