Palestinian Center for Missing and Forcibly Disappeared Persons: ▪ Three years since the beginning of the missing persons crisis in the Gaza Strip, and their families still do not know the fate of their children. ▪ The number of missing persons has exceeded 7,000, including about 4,000 under the rubble and more than 2,500 forcibly disappeared. ▪ Hundreds went missing near the border on October 7, 2023, some of them minors who went to watch the events. ▪ The occupation authorities used enforced disappearance as a systematic policy and a tool of collective punishment and pressure on Palestinians. ▪ Cases of enforced disappearance continued even after the announced ceasefire on October 9, 2025. ▪ The occupation refuses to reveal the names of detainees, and returned hundreds of unidentified bodies without information about the circumstances of their death. ▪ Ongoing Israeli restrictions on the entry of heavy equipment hinder the recovery of bodies of the missing and their burial with dignity. ▪ International laws and the Geneva Conventions guarantee the inherent right of families to know the fate of their missing children. ▪ The psychological and physical effects on families are worsening sharply as information continues to be withheld and they live in anxiety and waiting. ▪ The center calls on the occupation to immediately disclose the fate of the missing and the names of detainees and to facilitate their visitation internationally. ▪ The international community is called upon to establish an independent investigative mechanism to collect evidence and determine the fate of the missing and disappeared.
