Head of the National Relations Department in the Hamas movement abroad Ali Baraka:

▪The passage of thirty-three years since the signing of the Oslo Agreement has clearly shown that it did not achieve freedom, independence and security for our people, did not end the occupation and did not guarantee the refugees' right of return, but rather the occupation governments used it to continue settlement, Judaization, land confiscation and imposing facts on the ground.

▪The West Bank has turned, as a result of occupation and settlement policies, into fragmented cantons, while the crimes of Judaization and incursions continue in Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the occupation continues its war of extermination, destruction, siege and starvation against our people in the Gaza Strip.

▪The Oslo Agreement, which was presented as a five-year transitional phase paving the way for establishing the state and resolving the refugee issue, ended in practice by entrenching the occupation, strengthening security coordination, weakening the Palestinian national position and besieging the resistance forces, while the promises of an independent state and the return of refugees were not fulfilled.

▪We warn against the continuation of the political approach based on unilateralism, exclusion, appointments and monopolizing Palestinian representation, as it represents a repetition of the mistakes that weakened our cause, and we call for rebuilding the Palestine Liberation Organization on national democratic bases through free, fair and direct elections with the participation of all forces, factions and components of our people at home and abroad.

▪We call for giving priority to the supreme national interest over narrow partisan interests, and for arranging national priorities to confront occupation, settlement, displacement and Judaization, defend Jerusalem, the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Islamic and Christian holy sites, stop the aggression and lift the siege on the Gaza Strip, and adhere to our people’s national rights, foremost among them the right to self-determination, the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, and the refugees’ right to return to their homes and properties.

▪National unity, political partnership and genuine democratic representation are the way to protect the Palestinian national project and restore our people’s rights, not exclusion, unilateralism and monopolizing decision-making.
