▪Palestinian journalists since October 7, 2023 have paid a heavy price in defense of the public’s right to know, documenting events and conveying the truth from the field.

▪The scale of the losses and violations suffered by journalists in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Jerusalem, including killing, injury, arrest and displacement, along with the destruction of homes and media institutions, requires the international community to move from statements of solidarity to taking practical and effective measures that ensure the protection of journalists and strengthen accountability. ▪We call for the provision of protection for journalists, guaranteeing press freedom and media access, conducting independent and transparent investigations into the violations they are subjected to, holding those responsible accountable, and ending impunity. ▪Protecting journalists is not a privilege, and press freedom is not a luxury; both are basic rights, while documenting the truth remains a professional and human responsibility that must not be silenced.
