Gaza Petroleum Authority: Adopting a new standards mechanism to distribute gas quotas according to family size in response to citizens' demands
Gaza Petroleum Authority: Adopting a new standards mechanism to distribute gas quotas according to family size in response to citizens' demands, and in an effort to entrench the principles of fairness and equality in the distribution of available resources, the Petroleum Authority in the Gaza Strip announces the adoption of a new mechanism for distributing cooking gas quotas to citizens registered in the electronic system, by linking the family’s entitled quota to the number of its officially registered members.
The new approved formula will take effect starting from the twelfth cycle, according to the following classification:
One person: 6 kilograms.
From 2 to 4 people: 8 kilograms.
From 5 to 7 people: 10 kilograms.
From 8 people and above: 12 kilograms.
Official approved pricing:
6-kilogram quota: 56 shekels
8-kilogram quota: 74 shekels
10-kilogram quota: 93 shekels
12-kilogram quota: 110 shekels
Cycle duration: Restructuring the distribution quotas may result in a slight time extension for the duration of one cycle, not exceeding one week for the entire cycle.
Impact of the mechanism: Estimates indicate that about 45% of those registered will see their entitled quotas increase, while the majority will retain their previous quota (8 kg), and a very small percentage will be affected by a reduction in the quota, achieving the required balance.
Data linkage and updating: The number of family members was calculated based on direct electronic linkage with the civil status database, and any changes to the number of family members during the same cycle will be adopted in the records of the subsequent cycle.
Citizens' role: Some citizens may notice an exceptional and one-time change in the order of their turns within the approved lists, due to the start of filling the larger quotas (12 kg) first for technical and logistical sorting considerations.
