Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas:

▪We affirm that the award of the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize to South African legal scholar and judge Navi Pillay, in recognition of her career in defending human rights and promoting international law, especially in the Palestinian territories, represents an important step in the course of international justice and a new international acknowledgment of the crimes committed by the occupation against our Palestinian people.

▪Pillay contributed to defending activists from the African National Congress in the face of apartheid and also served as president of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.

▪This recognition reflects a distinguished career in defending rights and holding perpetrators of international crimes accountable.

▪The findings reached by the independent international commission of inquiry headed by Pillay regarding the crimes committed in the Gaza Strip, and what its report issued in September/September 2025 concluded regarding the commission of the crime of genocide, confirm the gravity of what our people have been subjected to and require serious international action to translate the documented facts into legal measures and effective accountability for those responsible.

▪We call on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and to move to pursue war criminals and hold them accountable before international courts and put an end to the policy of impunity in a way that stops the crimes of the occupation against our Palestinian people.
