A presidential decree was issued calling for simultaneous presidential and legislative elections in September/September 2027, based on the decision of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, after canceling Decree No. (4) of 2026 regarding the call for legislative elections scheduled for 28 November/November 2026.

▪We affirm our steadfast principled position on the necessity of rebuilding and reforming our national institutions and organizing our internal house through a democratic process that allows free and fair elections, which is a national priority for uniting the ranks of our people and protecting their national rights.

▪The decision to postpone the elections until next year, in light of the absence of the political, security and field conditions and data necessary to hold free and fair elections in all the occupied Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem, is a step that must lead to comprehensive, serious and fruitful national dialogue.

▪We affirm our readiness to engage in comprehensive dialogue to agree on clear and binding outcomes for all parties, including mechanisms for organizing the Palestinian house, especially the National and Legislative Councils, and to agree on a comprehensive national strategy that includes the political program, the management of the transitional phase, and confronting the dangerous Zionist threats that target our national cause and saving our people in all places of their presence, especially in the Gaza Strip, which is subjected to a war of extermination and displacement.
