Gaza & Palestine
The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas:
▪On the thirtieth anniversary of the heroic “tunnel” uprising: ▪There is no sovereignty or legitimacy for the occupation over a single inch of the blessed Al-Aqsa, and our people will continue their legitimate struggle and defense of their land and holy sites until the occupation is removed ▪Our Palestinian people and our Arab and Islamic nation recall, with pride and honor, on this day in 1996, one of the milestones of our people’s struggle against the enemy’s plans targeting the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, embodied in the “tunnel” uprising, in response to the Zionist enemy’s opening of a tunnel beneath the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. The uprising lasted for six months, during which nearly one hundred martyrs were killed and more than 1600 people were injured, in its defense. ▪We recall this blessed milestone in our people’s struggle at a time when the Zionist aggression against the city of Jerusalem, the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and all our lands in the occupied West Bank is escalating, in a frenzied attempt to impose the occupation’s alleged sovereignty over these places and erase their Arab and Islamic features. The commemoration of this anniversary coincides with the continued aggression against our people in the Gaza Strip, and the massacres it causes against civilians. ▪On the anniversary of the heroic “tunnel uprising,” we affirm in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) the following: ▪ The pure blood of the martyrs that colored our sacred land in the tunnel uprising will remain a motive for our people to continue struggle and resistance. The tunnel uprising surprised the enemy government and its settlers, confused their calculations, and thwarted their plans thirty years ago, and it confirms that the enemy’s attempts to defile Al-Aqsa and divide it will not succeed. ▪The crimes of the occupation and its escalating terrorism will not grant it alleged legitimacy over a single inch of our land and our holy sites, and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque will remain a purely Islamic endowment, and the occupation’s attempts and the hordes of its settlers will not succeed in imposing the false policy of fait accompli. ▪We commend the steadfastness of the stationed worshippers in Beit al-Maqdis and its surroundings and their sacrifices, and we call on the masses of our Palestinian people in all areas of the homeland and abroad to continue their legitimate struggle, by all means, in defense of our national constants and our Islamic and Christian land and holy sites. ▪We renew our call to our Arab and Islamic nation, leaders and peoples, to assume its responsibilities in defending Jerusalem and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, supporting the steadfastness of the stationed worshippers on their land, and confronting the enemy’s attempts and its suspicious plans targeting the nation’s identity and its holy sites.
