Islamic Resistance Movement - Hamas: ▪The decision by the U.S. president to impose sanctions on the International Criminal Court constitutes a serious attack on international justice, and a blatant attempt to protect Netanyahu and the occupation leaders from accountability for war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity committed against our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. ▪Netanyahu’s praise, as a wanted person by the International Criminal Court, for this decision reveals his fear of the path of accountability, and his effort to evade appearing before the court and facing the consequences of the crimes committed in Gaza. ▪Targeting the court because it is carrying out its responsibility to pursue the perpetrators of the most serious international crimes will not deter it from performing its duty; accountability for war crimes and crimes against humanity is a collective commitment established by the Rome Statute, and justice must in no way be subject to political pressure and bargaining. ▪We call on countries of the world, especially the states parties to the Rome Statute, to reject these sanctions and fulfill their obligations by supporting the International Criminal Court, and taking practical measures to protect its judges and staff and ensure the continuation of its work. ▪Defending justice requires steps that go beyond condemnation, and prevent the perpetrators of war crimes from escaping punishment.
