Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine: We mourn the martyrs Ashraf Dahlan, Shadi Abu Atiya and Sami Baroud, employees of the Islamic University security staff

Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine: ▪We mourn the martyrs Ashraf Dahlan, Shadi Abu Atiya and Sami Baroud, employees of the Islamic University security staff, who were killed while on duty, and extend our deepest condolences to their families, the university administration, and their female and male colleagues. ▪The Israeli occupation’s targeting of the university with two airstrikes, coinciding with the start of regular in-person classes, represents an attack on efforts toward social recovery in the Gaza Strip, the restoration of its educational and national institutions, and the resumption of the educational process. ▪We call on academic and educational institutions around the world to stand in solidarity with the universities of the Gaza Strip, which are facing a systematic Israeli targeting that affects educational institutions and the conditions for their continuity, as part of the comprehensive war of extermination on the Palestinian presence in the Strip. ▪We call on free people of the world to escalate solidarity action and pressure governments to take serious positions and measures that put an end to the occupation’s crimes, the war of extermination, and the plans of ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people.

Member of the Political Bureau and Head of the Jerusalem Affairs Office in the Hamas movement, Haroun Nasser al-Din:

▪ We warn of the danger of the occupation imposing the Zionist educational curriculum on students in occupied Jerusalem, and consider this part of a systematic project aimed at re-shaping consciousness and entrenching the occupation. We affirm that our people and our children in Jerusalem are stronger than all attempts at erasure and Judaization. ▪ By imposing its curriculum, the occupation will not be able to impose its narrative on our students, and we affirm that the Palestinian identity in Jerusalem is too deep to be erased by imposed curricula or the occupation’s measures and policies. ▪ All policies of Judaization, settlement, land confiscation, home demolitions, and changing curricula will not grant the occupation any right in Jerusalem, and will not succeed in tearing the city away from its roots or separating its people from their present and history. ▪ The school, the book, and awareness are fundamental pillars in the battle for Jerusalem and the ongoing conflict with the occupation, and we stress that protecting education in Jerusalem is a national responsibility that requires the broadest official, popular, and institutional support. ▪ We call on educational and community institutions and parents to protect the awareness of Jerusalem’s children, strengthen their connection to the history of their city, its culture, and its Islamic and national identity, and confront attempts to erase the Palestinian memory or separate generations from their Arab and Palestinian extension.

Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas):

▪ We affirm that the occupation’s seizure of the lands of the Al-Muntar Bedouin community and Al-Sawahira wilderness east of occupied Jerusalem and their classification as "state lands" represents a new crime in the context of its settlement plans aimed at dividing the West Bank geographically, isolating the city of Jerusalem, and tightening control over it. ▪ We warn against the escalation of plans to displace our people and seize their lands in Jerusalem and the West Bank, and we call on the international community to break its silence in the face of the occupation’s settlement and Judaization war and to move to stop its aggression against our people, our land, and our holy sites. ▪ The occupation’s plans and crimes will not succeed in breaking the steadfastness of our people and their rootedness in their land, and they will face from our people and our resistance only more steadfastness and confrontation with the projects of annexation and displacement and their foiling. ▪ The escalation of settlement aggression requires unifying Palestinian efforts and positions and strengthening the option of resistance to protect the Palestinian presence. We also call on the United Nations, the League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and free people around the world to assume their responsibilities and take effective action to stop the occupation’s arrogance and the plans of Judaization, settlement, and displacement.
