Islamic Resistance Movement - Hamas:

▪ We announce our rejection of the appointments and unilateral steps related to the formation of the Palestinian National Council, and consider them a breach of the recent Cairo understandings, a violation of the principle of national partnership, the imposition of political realities before the national dialogue, and an infringement on our Palestinian people’s right to choose who represents them.

▪ We affirm that the National Council represents an inclusive institution that must not be formed unilaterally, and that it must reflect the will of our people in the homeland and the diaspora, and ensure the participation of all its components and national forces on democratic bases.

▪ We call for the immediate halt of all unilateral measures, and for commitment to resuming the national dialogue with the participation of all forces and factions without exception, in order to agree on rebuilding the institutions of the Palestinian political system, and setting specific dates and mechanisms for the presidential and legislative elections and the elections of the National Council, with the participation of our people at home and abroad.

▪ We affirm that dialogue constitutes the main entry point to uniting the national ranks, rebuilding the Palestine Liberation Organization on democratic bases, and agreeing on a national strategy and program to confront the occupation’s schemes that target our people, our land, and our Islamic and Christian holy sites.
