Israeli airstrike targets a vehicle near the American hospital west of the town of Al-Zawaida in central Gaza Strip
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine:
▪We condemn the Peace Council and its representatives’ disregard, during their meeting in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, for the crimes that the Israeli occupation continues to commit daily in the Gaza Strip, in an ongoing genocidal reality under the ceiling of the ceasefire. ▪We warn against bypassing the root of the crisis, represented by the existence of the occupation and its ongoing aggression against land and people, and portraying the problem of the Gaza Strip as if it stops at the absence of good governance or the ability to enforce security, or as if it can be solved by polished plans for reconstruction and digitization. ▪Restricting the Peace Council’s discussions and its promises to practical steps in the weapons file constitutes a reversal of the ceasefire agreement and Security Council Resolution 2803. ▪Despite the injustice of the resolution’s provisions against the Palestinian people, the Israeli occupation, with clear complicity from the executive team in the Peace Council, is working to empty it of its substance and turn it into a tool to achieve the goals of the Israeli war. ▪We affirm that the Palestinian forces’ commitment to the roadmap is conditional on implementing its essence, which is based on reciprocal steps leading to the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation from the Gaza Strip. ▪It is not acceptable to turn the roadmap into a unilateral agreement in which the Palestinians fulfill their obligations while the occupation is exempted from its commitments. ▪We warn against the statements contained in the speech of the commander of the international force, which hint at its involvement in activities related to neutralizing weapons in the Gaza Strip, which constitutes a departure from the text of the agreement and the mandate granted to it as a force for stabilization and field separation, not a force for direct confrontation with the people of the Strip. ▪We call on the mediators and the Arab and Islamic states participating in the Peace Council to declare a clear position rejecting attempts by the executive director and the team that includes Jared Kushner, Steve Witkoff, and Tony Blair to turn the council into a cover for the objectives of the Israeli war and the continuation of genocide. ▪We appreciate the positions of heads of state who rejected the Israeli aggression and the continuation of genocide at the United Nations General Assembly. ▪We call for these positions to be translated into concrete steps and serious pressure that stops the humanitarian catastrophe and curbs the occupation’s aggression against the Palestinian people.
Director of the Kuwait Field Hospital, Suhaib Al-Hams:
▪ The crisis at the hospital is not new; rather, it has been building since the announcement of the ceasefire, with no tangible improvement in the medical situation. ▪ The crisis began with a severe shortage of medical supplies, from saline solutions to antibiotics, painkillers, disinfectants and tools, and ended with a fuel cut-off. ▪ The administration was forced to resort to costly alternatives to provide generator oil and ambulance spare parts, but these exceeded its financial capacity. ▪ The hospital needs about 1000 liters of diesel per day to operate its main generators, and it cannot be secured locally amid the economic crisis and the halt in supplies through "Ocha" and the World Health Organization. ▪ The hospital serves about 3,000 patients daily and carries out about 50 surgeries, 10 endoscopy procedures and at least 10 births. ▪ Free ambulance services have now stopped completely because of the fuel crisis. ▪ The hospital received half of its daily fuel needs yesterday, which allowed some departments to be restarted partially, but running out of fuel could return the situation to zero. ▪ The health system in Gaza has been collapsing for years because of the blockade, and the crisis worsened after the destruction of the main headquarters of the Kuwaiti Hospital in Rafah. ▪ The hospital provides 90% of its services free of charge and has not received any official medicine shipment since 18 March/Marār last year. ▪ The hospital was forced to freeze the lists of scheduled operations until the end of the year because of limited resources. ▪ Intensive meetings were held with international parties over the past three days, and they were called on to assume their responsibilities and stop the catastrophe before the health situation spirals out of control.
Gaza Ministry of Health:
▪The total number of arrivals to hospitals in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours was 6 martyrs, including 1 martyr who died of his wounds, and 35 injuries. ▪Since the ceasefire (11 October): * Total martyrs: 1,408 * Total injuries: 4,916 * Total recoveries: 834 The cumulative toll since the start of the aggression on 7 October 2023: * Martyrs: 73,928 - Injuries: 175,030
Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasem:
▪Hamas affirmed its readiness to implement the roadmap agreed upon with the Peace Council regarding the peace plan in the Gaza Strip. ▪He indicated that the obstruction of the ceasefire agreement and the related roadmap is due to the occupation government’s refusal to abide by the agreement and its escalation of its aggression against the people of the Gaza Strip, in addition to the inability of the Peace Council and its representative Miladinov to compel the occupation to implement it. ▪He stressed the need for all parties, especially the US administration and the Peace Council, to facilitate the entry of the technocratic committee into the Gaza Strip so that it can carry out its duties toward the people of the Strip and begin the introduction of international forces in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and the related roadmap.
